The Stern Review Report on the Economics of Climate Change from the UK government highlights major impacts in Asia. It reports that rising sea levels will lead to 'serious risks and increasing pressures for coastal protection in South East Asia' and 'sudden shifts in regional weather patterns such as the monsoon rains in South Asia or the El Niño phenomenon - changes that would have severe consequences for water availability and flooding in tropical regions and threaten the livelihoods of millions of people.'

The full report can be accessed here.

The Stern report is also discussed with regard to impacts in Asia by ABC Radio Australia - click here for further details.
